The Napa Valley may have stood still as to the number of Michelin Stars restaurants it has but the Bay Area now boasts six 3 Star restaurants. Besides Yountville’s The French Laundry of Thomas Keller fame and The Restaurant at Meadowood, the four others are Benu, Quince and Saison in San Francisco and Manresa in Los Gatos. By having three Michelin Stars, this is a rating that designates a restaurant with “exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey.”
The Napa Valley restaurants to receive one Michelin Star include Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford, La Toque in Napa, Solbar in Calistoga and Terra in St. Helena.
No matter where you eat in the Napa Valley reservations are a must. And yes, it continues to be very difficult to get a reservation at The French Laundry with them still taking reservations 60 days in advance. I often get asked my favorite here in Yountville. It is a toss up between Redd Wood for great pizzas and Michael Chiarello’s Bottaga for yummy Italian fare. My favorite place to have a glass of wine, the bar at Bouchon. Wherever you choose to dine here in the Napa Valley, the only thing that matters, enjoy and bon apetit.
