Interesting article is this week’s Yountville Sun, our local weekly newspaper, about the Town Council having a 2 million dollar surplus. Granted 1.64 million dollars was the lawsuit settlement from the contractors who rebuilt the Town Community Hall. However what caught my eye more was the $6.263 million the 451 hotel rooms generated in fiscal year 2013-14.
These transient occupancy taxes, TOT dollars, represented nearly 70% of the Town $8,989,405 2013-14 budget. Just how important is this, just look at almost any other California City and Town and they are nearly desperate for additional revenues. Almost everywhere else, municipal services are still being operated on minimum budgets and only recently are some of these cities services being restored due to the improving economies.
Besides being one of the best places to live, we are a wealthy little Town in the heart of the Napa Valley. Thus, if you are tired of hearing why that pothole still hasn’t been fixed, want to dine at some of the best restaurants in the country, then let me show you a few of the wonderful homes for sale here. I don’t mind showing you them even if you haven’t made up your mind to buy yet. But be careful, it is very easy to fall in love with the lifestyle here and the charm of where I call home, Yountville the heart of the Napa Valley.
